| Method | ||
| 1. | Into a clean glass vial, weigh a quantity of ion exchange resin corresponding to 250 mg per dose required. | |
| 2. | Moisten the resin with a small volume of alcohol. Mix with a glass rod, and add a quantity of Indium-111 chloride solution corresponding to 5 MBq per dose required. | |
| 3. | Mix to distribute the indium activity evenly and dry under a gentle airstream. | |
| 4. | Fill No 2 gelatin capsules (fill weight approx 250 mg) with the dry radiolabelled resin. | |
| 5. | Close the capsules, trapping a length of fine braided silk suture between the capsule cap and body. | |
| 6. | Prepare a coating solution containing 13% Eudragit S100 in a mixture of propan-2-ol and acetone (60:40). | |
| 7. | Using the sutures to suspend the capsules, immerse in the coating solution for 30 seconds and allow to dry thoroughly for about 30 minutes. Repeat the procedure. | |
| 8. | When the capsules are thoroughly dry, assay for activity, and cut the sutures as close to the capsule body as possible. | |
| 9. | Measure and record the activity in each capsule and label appropriately. | |
The capsules are now ready for administration. Capsules are administered with 150 ml water. Imaging is performed at 2 hours, 6 hours, 24 hours and at 24 hour intervals until activity is eliminated. |
