Carbon-14 Urea (CFA 41)is purchased as a radiochemical from Amersham Pharmacia Biotech. It is not sold as a radiopharmaceutical and not covered by a UK Product Licence The material arrives as a freeze dried powder in a glass vial and has to be redissolved in Water for Injections prior to use |

| Method | ||
| 1. | To the freeze dried powder (Carbon-14 Urea 37 MBq) add 4.1 ml Water for Injection BP and mix thoroughly to achieve dissolution of the powder. Allow to stand for 1 hour to ensure this process is complete. The radioactive concentration of the solution will be approximately 90 kBq in 10 microlitres | |
| 2. | Fill the lower half of 100 empty gelatin capsules size 0 with lactose. The quantity will be approximately 400-500 mg per capsule | |
| 3. | To each capsule add 10 microlitres of the Carbon-14 Urea solution. Ensure the liquid is placed on to the lactose and not allowed to come into contact with the wall of the gelatin capsule | |
| 4. | Seal the capsules and transfer to a tablet bottle and label appropriately | |
